The Southern Oregon Spartans are proud to announce that a pair of forwards have committed to attend and play hockey at NCAA Division III Worcester State University.
Joey White (Wonder Lake, Illinois), who served as the Spartans Captain for the 2011-12 season, scored 31 goals to go along with 57 assists in 48 games. White earned a selection on the Second Team NORPAC All-Star Team. Prior to joining the Spartans, White played for the Wisconsin Rampage in the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League.
The other player earning a roster spot with Worcester State is Mike Leskun (Geneva, Illinois). Leskun was selected as winner of the NORPAC Rookie of the Year Award as he finished the season with 39 goals and 35 assists in 48 games. Prior to joining Southern Oregon, Leskun played for the Chicago Mission Midget AAA Major program.
"I am very proud of what these two players were able to accomplish here in Oregon. They both proved to be able to perform on the ice at a very high level. More importantly, these two players are outstanding individuals off the ice. I know they will continue their success in the NCAA with Worcester State," stated Spartans coach Mike Stanaway.
Both players were vital components in the Spartans run to capture the Cascade Cup as Champions of the Northern Pacific Hockey League.
