The Steele County Blades organization announced that Jon Jonasson will be the Head Coach for their 2012-13 inaugural season. A meet and greet on Tuesday, April 17 at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna, MN officially announced the news to the public. The community was able to meet Jonasson and learn more about his hockey background and experience. Individuals from the Owatonna Youth Hockey Association, Owatonna Parks and Recreation, and the Blue Line Club also attended the meet and greet. This is Jonasson's first season in a full time coaching position.

A native of Bloomington, Jonasson played one season with the MnJHL Northern Lights in 2004 and 1.5 seasons with Owls. He continued to play with the Evansville Icemen of the AAHL in the 2009 season. He soon found a passion for coaching starting with a position for an assistant coach/Director of Player Development/Youth Skating Instructor with the Phoenix Polar Bears of the WSHL in 2010. Currently he finished his first season as assistant coach/Director of Player Development/Youth Skating Instructor with the Phoenix Polar Bears of the WSHL.

Jon is already actively recruiting players. The first Blades tryout camp will be held July 20 and 21 in Owatonna at the Four Seasons Centre.  He will be attending prospect camps in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Madison WI and Denver, CO in upcoming weeks.
