The Steele County Blades organization announced that Jon
Jonasson will be the Head Coach for their 2012-13 inaugural season. A
meet and greet on Tuesday, April 17 at the Four Seasons Centre in
Owatonna, MN officially announced the news to the public. The community
was able to meet Jonasson and learn more about his hockey background and
experience. Individuals from the Owatonna Youth Hockey Association,
Owatonna Parks and Recreation, and the Blue Line Club also attended the
meet and greet. This is Jonasson's first season in a full time coaching
position.
A native of Bloomington, Jonasson played one season with the MnJHL
Northern Lights in 2004 and 1.5 seasons with Owls. He continued to play
with the Evansville Icemen of the AAHL in the 2009 season. He soon found
a passion for coaching starting with a position for
an assistant coach/Director of Player Development/Youth Skating
Instructor with the Phoenix Polar Bears of the WSHL in 2010. Currently
he finished his first season as assistant coach/Director of Player
Development/Youth Skating Instructor with the Phoenix Polar Bears of the
WSHL.

Jon is already actively recruiting players. The
first Blades tryout camp will be held July 20 and 21 in Owatonna at the
Four Seasons Centre. He will be attending prospect camps in
Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Madison WI and Denver, CO in upcoming weeks.
