Good Afternoon everybody, my name is Nick Brewer and I currently live in Erie, PA, home of the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. As a former player and avid follower of the OHL, I'm going to keep you updated on everything from players, to teams, the commissioner, game day previews and much more. As a writer for juniorhockey.com, I will be exclusively covering all facets of the OHL.
So lets jump in to a few things that are buzzin' around the OHL today. First and foremost there are 5 games set for action tonight which are listed below...
- Guelph at London
- Mississauga at Niagra
- Brampton at Peterborough
- Saulte St Marie at Windsor
- Sudbury at Barrie
As the 2011-2012 regular season is coming to end, (52 games remaining) there are still 8 playoff spots up for grabs. More info on this can be found on the link below:
Erie's own Conor Brown took the 3rd star of the week behind Nathan Pancel (2nd star) and Jesse Graham (1st star). It's no surprise to anyone who follows the OHL that the Erie Otters are in a rebuilding phase and are in last place in their division. Last night the Erie Otters held a bucknight at Tullio Arena against the Western Division champion Plymouth Whalers and jumped out in front to a 3-1 lead before collapsing and eventually losing a hard fought contest 10-6. Stephen Harper collected his first OHL hat trick. The turning point in the game was when Erie's own Travis Wood was knocked out of the game from a hit to the head by Tom Wilson who was not penalized and that erupted not only the players, but the fans as well at Tuillio Arena. The otters forecheck in the zone got a lot better as well as body checks. This led to three fights which gave Erie some momentum back, but in the end was still not enough to overcome the smooth play of the Plymouth Whalers. The Otters return to Tullio Arena Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. to host the Kitchener Rangers, presented by Father and Son Remodeling. For tickets, call (814) 452-4857, or go to ErieEvents.com.
Thanks everyone for stoppin' by, and I look forward to hearing your feedback and building a great relationship with you all. Keep skatin'...
