JuniorHockey.com today announced that Mitchell Snider, of the North American Hockey League's Traverse City North stars, has been named the Perani's Hockey World National Player of the Week for the period ending February 26th.
The twenty year-old amassed a total of 8 points (3g, 5a) while the North Stars swept the hapless Chicago Hitmen last weekend at home in Michigan.
On Friday night, the Traverse City native notched a goal to go along with his three assists in the North Stars 9-0 washout.
Saturday night, Snider added a pair of goals (including the game winner) with another pair of assists in Traverse City's 6-1 drumming.
"Mitchell's #1 asset is his speed. When he is in the line-up and at full strength, we are a good team," North Stars head coach Chad Fournier told NAHL.com. "He has made huge strides this season and really improved as a player. He is the emotional leader of our team on and off the ice."
Bob Perani's Sports Shop, Inc. was started in 1976 by Bob Perani, a local Pro hockey player and fan favorite who played for a number of years as a goalie with the Flint Generals. The first store was a converted auto repair shop with only two employees. But after thirty-one years the business has become to be known as Perani's Hockey World "The Toy Store for the Hockey Player", and with 19 locations across the US and Canada with 200+ employees it is the largest independent hockey retailer in the world.
