Sources within the North American Hockey League are reporting that ten current NAHL teams have failed to submit the Promissory Note by yesterday's deadline that commits the team's participation for next season.

The teams are:

-          Alaska Avalanche

-          Coulee Region Chill

-          Dawson Creek Rage

-          Fresno Monsters

-          Michigan Warriors

-          Springfield Blues

-          St Louis Bandits

-          Traverse City North Stars

-          Wenatchee Wild

-          New Mexico Mustangs

These teams are not permitted to sign tender agreements or move players for the remainder of the season unless the agreement is submitted.

On another note, there seems to be even more trouble out of Chicago. Sources within the organization are citing a stalemate between the arena and team in regards to issues with the lease. As a result, the Hitmen have not paid the five-figure ice bill and could be locked out of Friday night's game with Springfield.

What is the last day for these teams to submit the paperwork and what happens to the teams if this paperwork is not turned in? And if I was a current or a tendered player should I be concerned I might not have a team to play for next year?

Lars,
You have to use a real name here...

To answer your question, tendered players should be very concerned and the deadline was Jan 31.

I am sure that some of these teams are trying to make moves to continue to exist.

Stephen,

Was this a "hard" deadline, or something that owners fail to do every year, because they know they won't get slapped by the league.

Also, does this mean the league can sell the Franchise to a different Owner?

This would absolutely kill the West (Alaska, Fresno, Dawson Creek, Wenatchee).

Mike,
The NAHL operates with so much mystery that it is hard to get a grasp on anything they are doing.

Going down the list, there is trouble with each of the teams. Coulee Region and Springfield could both be going to the NA3HL, but the other eight are in trouble.

The other mystery is Chicago and Jamestown. The Hitmen are facing serious issues today in regards to the arena and could be locked out for Friday's game. So to see that they committed to Fox Valley for 2012-2013 is laughable at best. Jamestown needs a miracle, or a winning lottery ticket to make it another season without a a solid revenue stream.
