Empire South Weekend Update - Junior Hockey News

The Empire South was in action last weekend. Here's a recap of all the action.
Thursday, January 12th
Florida Junior Blades 12, Tampa Bay Juniors 2
The Junior Blades scored 6 times in the 2nd period and 4 more times in the third to cruise to the win. Troy Degler led Florida with 3 goals and 2 assists and Daniel Thompson added 3 goals. Eric Sugrue made 15 saves. For Tampa Bay, Alex McCoy and Tony Feldman scored goals and Kyle Gertz made 68 saves. The Blades scored three times on a major penalty to end up 3 for 6 on the power play, while the Juniors were 1 for 4 with the man advantage.
Friday, January 13th
Florida Junior Blades 9, Space Coast Hurricanes 1
The Junior Blades broke open a close game with a 5 goal second period. Marcus Ortix paced the offense with 3 goals, while Joseph Keyser was called upon to make 11 saves. For the Hurricanes, James Tam scored the lone goal and Patrick Tepedino made 31 saves. The Junior Blades were 3 for 8 on the power play and 3 of 3 on the penalty kill.
Saturday, January 14th
Florida Junior Blades 10, Space Coast Hurricanes 1
The Junior Blades scored 4 times in the first and 3 times in both the second and third periods to take the win. J.P. Larmoyeux had 2 goals and 2 assists, Eryn Siracusa had 2 goals and 1 assist for the Junior Blades, Eric Sugrue made 16 saves. Chriss Villarreal scored for Space Coast, Patrick Tepedino made 35 saves. Florida was 3 for 5 on the power play, the Hurricanes were 1 for 9.
Hampton Roads Whalers 3, Frederick Freeze 2 (OT)
Keegan Howver scored 42 seconds into overtime to boost the Whalers to the win. Alexander Dempsey had a goal and assist, Michael Addison a goal and Grant Laughrey 27 saves for Hampton Road. For the Freeze, James Thayer and Nicholas Martin scored goals, Kevin Russell made 31 saves. The Whalers were 3 for 5 on the power play, 5 of 5 on the penalty kill.
Sunday, January 15th
Hampton Roads Whalers 6, Frederick Freeze 3
The Whalers scored twice in each period for the win. Taylor Paasch had 2 goals and 1 assist, Alan Johnson had 33 saves for the Whalers. For Frederick, Nicholas Martin had 2 goals, Kevin Russell 53 saves. Both teams were 0 for 3 on the power play.
