AWHL and NorPac Update - Junior Hockey News

The America West Hockey League kicked off their 11th weekend with the Bozeman Icedogs traveling to Billings to take on the Bulls. Bozeman come out on top with a 5 to 1 win which featured a hat trick from the Dogs Zach Baker. The other Friday game featured the Gillette Wild traveling to Helena to face the National Champion Bighorns at the Helena Ice Arena. Helena struck early and often in the game, humbling the Wild with a 13 to 0 drubbing with league scoring leader Ryan Parkhouse adding 4 points (2G and 2A) to 49 points and Bryan Fiol adding 5 points (3G and 2A) to bring him to 37 points on the season. Saturday action had Billings hosting Bozeman again with Billings coming out on top 5 to 3. Gillette traveled to Great Falls where the Wild came out on top 2 to 1 on shots of 71 for the Wild and 30 for the Americans. In a widely watched rematch, the Helena Bighorns hosted the Missoula Maulers and in a tightly fought game that featured 38 shots apiece the Horns came out on top 3 to 2. Sunday evening will feature the Missoula Maulers hosting the Great Falls Americans at 7:30 PM Mountain time.
NorPac action started on Friday with Yellowstone traveling to Glacier with Yellowstone coming out on top 6 to 2 in spite of the Americans outshooting them 48 to 38. The Eugene Generals traveled to Seattle to take on the Totems with the Totes coming out on top 5 to 2. The final Friday game had Vancouver traveling to Medford to take on the Southern Oregon Spartans and in another game where the losing team outshot the winning team, the Spartans came out on top 9 to 5 on shots of 36 for the Spartans and 49 for the Victory. Saturday had Eugene traveling to Bremerton to face the Warriors with Eugene coming out on top 5 to 4 in a very tight contest. Vancouver played the Spartans again and again outshot the Spartans 39 to 38 with the result being almost identical to the previous night with the Spartans coming out on top 8 to 5. Yellowstone faced off again with Glacier with Glacier winning this contest 4 to 3. NorPac action will continue on Sunday evening with Yellowstone at Glacier and Eugene at West Sound.

NorPac Sunday Games
There were 2 final games in NorPac on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. The Glacier Nationals hosted Yellowstone Quake with the Quake winning by a score of 8 to 3 on 54 shots for the Quake and 35 for Glacier. Glacier went 0 for 7 on the power play and Yellowstone went 3 for 8 with 2 shorthanded goals, also. The final Sunday gme had Eugene in Bremerton to face off against the West Sound Warriors. West Sound led the game until the 3/4 mark of the 3rd period when the Generals put up 3 goals in 3 and a half minutes to win the game 6 to 4. NorPac action picks up on Friday.
AWHL Sunday Game
The lone game in the AWHL had Great Falls traveling to Missoula for a 7:00 PM game. Missoula came to life in the second period with 7 goals to put the game completely out of reach for the Americans for a final score of 10 to 2. Cory Shafer of the Maulers earned a hat trick and had 1 assist as well to lead the Maulers.
AWHL action picks up again on Friday.
