JuniorHockey.com today announced that Steve Hughes, of the Superior International Junior Hockey League's Wisconsin Wilderness, has been named HockeyShot.com's National Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 27.
Hughes recorded a goal and two assists as Wisconsin went 2-01 in three games this week.
On Friday, he assisted on Andrew Habel's second period goal in a 3-4 OT loss at Iron Range.
On Saturday in Sioux Lookout (340 miles north of Duluth), Hughes got his second assist of the week on Anthony Calabrese goal in the 2nd period of the 3-0 win.
Calabrese returned the favor with his pass on Sunday when Hughes scored a power play goal in a 5-1 win over the Flyers to close out the long 850 mile road trip.
The 20-year-old from Stone Lake, Wisconsin has collected two goals and ten assist in 22 previous games this season.
