The MET League and the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack hosted the Thanksgiving Showcase this past weekend with much success. Teams competed in 3-4 games each for a total of 36 games taking place at Champions Arena in Cromwell, CT with NCAA D-I and D-III college scouts in attendance.
The Central Penn Panthers and the Long Island Royals each went 4-0, while the Boston Bulldogs also skated to a perfect 3-0 record over the weekend.
Central Penn was led by forward DJ Dinnison and his 4 goals, 3 assists and +5 rating. Goalie Brian Rhodes stood on his head saving 54/56 totals shots in his two wins against the Metro Fighting Moose and the Jr. Pirates; their only losses of the weekend.
The Long Island Royals' offensive power in their four wins came mostly from forwards Jake Bichko and Joseph Napoli who each had 6 points. Defenseman Michael Cartwright added 4 assists from the blue line to take his season point total to 22 in just 20 games.
The most outstanding performance of weekend came from Boston Bulldogs forward Dillon Balsamo. Balsamo, who came into the weekend with 7 points in 17 games, caught fire with 3 goals and 7 assists in just three games.
Overall, the weekend showcase was a success. The division and league rivalries are heating up as the season reaches its midpoint, while jockeying for position in the standings continues to be exciting to watch.
