The Tier III Monsters began a 3-game home series against the Arizona Redhawks at Selland Arena on Friday afternoon. The Monsters kept their momentum up, winning the game and making another move up in their division's standings in the process.
Second-year Monster Don Coyle led the charge for the Monsters, scoring the first two goals of the game and netting the eventual game winner. Martin Lundberg continued his hot streak with a three-point (1G, 2A) effort, while Jason Beisinger contributed two assists. Rob Kolander had a goal and an assist, plus a team-leading 17 penalty minutes. As a matter of fact, with a goal, an assist and a fight, Kolander earned the elusive "Gordie Howe Hat Trick."
The Monsters outshot Arizona 43-20 in the game and set a great tone for the rest of the weekend. They have two more games against Arizona this weekend, the next being at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon. Fans are reminded that one ticket gets them into both the WSHL and NAHL games on Saturday, so it's another great double-header of hockey action.
