Bill Ciraulo responds One of our faithful readers suggested that we just "let this go" and another suggested that I did not have a life, a family, or children. My friends, if you only knew.
AmericanJuniorHockey.com continues to stand behind the player, but in this case we are trying to protect the integrity of the game. Some events should never occur, and the Anthony Tocco scandal is one of them. Bill Ciraulo"s version of this story is somewhat in conflict with that of others, and we will try to connect the dots.
Ciraulo responded to this series yesterday. In a effort to try and clear some issues, and his name, he instead raised a few more eyebrows.
AJH- When did you first come into contact with Sam Tocco? BC- I knew him from the rinks as one of the parents over the years.
AJH- Explain how "Nikoe Giacomo" (really Anthony Tocco) came into the picture. BC- Sam Tocco told me that he had this goalie from Florida that he wanted me to see. So I told him to bring the kid in for a camp, this was over two years ago. After the camp, I told Sam that I already had the goaltenders I needed (for AAA midget) and suggested that he try something else. I know that he went to a major junior club in Canada and ended up with another team.
AJH- Are you saying that you made a recommendation to Craig Furstenau based on seeing a kid at a camp over two years ago? BC- Yes
AJH- Why is Furstenau saying that the 'Giacomo" was an American that grew up in Italy and played u18 in Milan when you are saying the player was from Florida and came to your camp two years ago? BC- I don't know, ask him.
AJH- As the AAA Director for Little Ceasar"s, it would be your job to have knowledge of every top end player in the Detroit area, well Anthony Tocco was one of those players. BC- I never heard of him, where did he play?
AJH-You never heard of Anthony Tocco but you knew his dad from the rinks? BC- Yea, I see a lot of kids, and can"t remember all of them.
AJH- Not even a kid that finds his way to the USHL and Green Bay? BC- That"s what I said.
AJH- Did you ever know about Sam Tocco"s connection to organized crime? BC- No.
All we can do is present the facts and ask some questions. Bill Ciraulo seams like a nice enough guy, but all this conversation did was raise more questions.
What do you think?
