Janesville Jets prepare camp roster

By BDN staff beloitdailynews.com

JANESVILLE — As the July heat wave continues unabated, not many people have ice hockey on the brain. However, the Janesville Jets are in the midst of preparing for another season, and they are expecting a solid mix of returning players and newcomers.

The Jets are in the process of finalizing their training camp roster, with all players due to report August 23.

Returning players include forwards Eric Carlson, Chris Cattivera and Janesville native Conor Lemirande, a Janesville native. Also returning are defenseman Bryan Kronberger and goaltender Brock Kautz.

“I am very excited about the skill and speed of the players that will be reporting to the Jets training camp,” head coach Joe Dibble said in a release. “We have an excellent mixture of size, toughness, quickness, and agility in all positions.”

The Jets open their seasonat Minot on Sept. 12, while their home opener takes place on Sept. 21 against Fairbanks.

Odessa Jackalopes prepping for second NAHL season

The Odessa Jackalopes will kick off their second season in the North American Hockey League on Sept. 12 against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the annual NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn.

It is the first of four games in four days for every team in the league, as college and professional scouts get their first looks at this year’s players.

The Jackalopes face the Coulee Region Chill on Sept. 13; the Kenai River Brown Bears on Sept. 14, and the Minot (N.D.) Minotauros to close out the Showcase on Sept. 15.

Odessa, led by Coach Paul Gillis, made the playoffs in its inaugural season and will hold its tryout camp July 26-29 at Polar Ice House in Grapevine.

Pete,

My understanding is that Jim Hughes was at the Chill camp but is injured and that Ross Luedtke has been traded to Wichita Falls.

Regards,

RR
