What about the Fresno Monsters? What do you think will happen to them? I know it's all just speculation at this point, but what do you think is the most likely league for them to play in next year? Thanks in advance.
Ahh the proper funneling of talent upward, that is indeed the model that is most needed but seldom found, particularly in the Northeast. This is where the argument for reducing the number of teams gains traction in the northeast. There are simply too many mediocre junior B teams or in the case of the ESHL, which is really a B- league filled with poor glorified midget hockey teams around to develop truly Tier I talanet. What makes this even more dispicable is that these teams feed the dream and promise looks from Jr A and college coaches which is simply not the case. I laugh everytime I read college placements listed by these teams with players who never actually make the team or quit once they realize they will never see regular ice. For many I wonder if the $12-15 grand they spent playing this hockey for a couple of years is really worth it, my guess is its not.
I think Fresno declared Dormancy because they didn't know how many teams would remain in the West.I would think they would be back if they can replace one or two teams...It looks like the NAHL West will be down two Teams (Alaska & DC Rage) leaving four remaining: Fresno, Wenatchee, Kenai, Fairbanks. Is there any chance of picking up another Western franchise for the 2012-13 season? And don't forget, the NAHL has to find a replacement for Wenatchee in 2013-14
